Burnett River Bridges Report April 2026

Greetings everyone! with an enjoyable later Autum season, a fine dry Winter forecast, with no rainfall for the month of April. Volunteer hours being 251.

After the large rainfall event early March, rock picking along the river trail cuttings between Mount Debatable and Humphery Sidings, a great opportunity to get up close with the trail and its attributes and possibilities

Trail inspection at Munduberra and Philpott Siding back to Slab Creek where contractor Bruce has done a great job, collect shade cloth for frost guard protection project, many thanks to BJ,s canvas for the donation. We are looking forward 12 weeks to appreciate our frost guard protection efforts! Philpott Siding working bee in near future!

Flood damage repairs have been carried out on 3 of the 6 projects with works starting again next Tuesday.

Member Dael did a walk with visitors from Sunshine coast, so witnessed the trail Mount Debateable to Reid’s Creek at its best! A great post! Thanks, Dael!!

The main railway line was taken up over the A3 this month at Gayndah, meaning the end of possible railway usage into the future. (The end of our railway era, (119) years. This will create many opportunities for the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail with keen interest from the community in progressing the trail from Gayndah to Reids Creek once negotiations with Isis Sugar can be achieved by all parties involved.

A long way from the Gayndah 2014 markets stall where Arthur Marshall and others were raising community awareness regarding the trail and all its possibilities.

Thanking all volunteers, supporters for their diligent/enjoyable work! Great to see sections of the trail taking on their own special character, with some special interest for everyone.

We encourage the community to get involved in our great regional tourist asset!

“Community Wellbeing, Regional Tourism and Environmental Values”

Until next month!

Cheers

Mike
