Burnett River Bridges Report March 2026

Greetings everyone!
March has been a challenging month with rainfall events the highest since February 24th, 2013, to Tuesday 10th March 26.

Our monthly rainfall for March was 408mm keeping our volunteers busy with flood damage and very rapid grass growth on our trail with 213 volunteer hours undertaken for the month.

A Munduberra visit with trail signage placed at Strathdee St. highway crossing and Bauer Street. Consult with Barry and Andrew regarding line crossing and placement of cracker dust as a crossing in line with Mens Shed, MEA, Rotary clubs request.

ZT mowing and whipper snipping (w/s) maintenance has taken place at all sidings except Philpott. Wet weather meant Trail Hub and Maintenance depot projects, complete detailing of ablutions block, fruit bin painting, w/s, mowing and further maintenance projects.

A flood damage report accompanies this newsletter, and we are awaiting Dept. TMR for go ahead with flood repairs.

Great news with Rosellas taking up residence at Dirnbir siding where a bird box was placed some months ago.  Very sad to see a Powerful Owl caught in the top barbed wire of Humphery siding. We will be endeavouring to replace all top siding wires with plain wire in the future.

Mary2BayRT has just placed 9 eco signs, looking great! (an interesting project).

A big thanks you to our volunteers and supporters for their efforts over the past month.

Adopt a small rail trail project is encouraged for the community and member. Our trail is for Community Health and Wellbeing, Promotion of Regional Tourism, Environmental values.

Keep Well
Happy Easter!
Cheers
Mike
