Burnett River Bridges Report October 2024

Greetings everyone, wishing to share some activities conducted over the month of October. have had 3 rainfall events in the last 2 weeks of 25mm, 5mm, and 40mm, which freshened up the trail and taken the watering load off our new tree for some time. ‘Banapan Citrus’ kindly donated a 1000ltr pod for our watering of tree seedlings on the trail.

We now start our ZT mowing program for the year commencing this week, Humphrey Siding to Roths Bridge will take place.

Fencing with flood repairs at Dirnbir Siding also fencing at Humphrey Bridge No 1 around the bridge abutment, will develop into a great rest area. Thanks John for his assistance with the gate capping and installation.

Work has been undertaken at the granite ballast pit, with the placing of a seat and defining of an area for beautification as this area has much potential adding to the trail experience with river views.

Continue with bench seats for the trail and also working on Trail Hub marker at Gayndah. Spraying needs to commence in the near future for thatch grass, weeds etc.

A key box has been installed at the Gayndah Hub for the BRBRT section allowing for safe storage and access of keys when required.

Redirection of trail onto trail corridor across our newly completed Philpott Bridge, with saving of 6klm detour. Painting out direction markers and sign realignment has taken place.

Working with Mick and Lyn Colyer to install grid, gate and fencing took place, also the placing of a seat and planting of a Neem tree at the bridge.

This is some of the highlights of our October happenings.

Special thanks to Doug, Mick, Lyn and All volunteers, and Supporters for their interest in our trail with 174 volunteer hours undertaken this month.

Remember “Nuture, Enhance, Sustain”

Cheers Mike Goebel
