Burnett River Bridges Report June 2025

Greetings everyone! from a very cold June, Winter month!! We have already experienced some frosty mornings with temperatures to -1.0C at Mount Debateable, also total of 33 mm of rain for this month.

Remedial erosion control work has been carried out at Spring Creek, hopefully preventing any further damage to the abutment area until funding can be sourced for hand railing and decking of this iconic bridge.

Gayndah Trail Hub maintenance along with old QR works depot has been carried out, repairs to a shed along with a base for our thousand litre rainwater tank, which will be installed very soon.

This year will see Burnett River access identified for our trail providing for an additional trail experience. Access has been identified from our Burnett River Bridges section of trail at Slab Creek, 200meters west of Slab Creek bridge.

Progress is being made at Philpott Siding, with the cutting up and removal of old fencing, hopefully siding integrity can be reinstated this year. A Big Thanks to our Doug and Wayne for their efforts!!

River access has also been identified at Harding’s Lane which is accessible from Philpott Siding.

We wish to encourage trail users to pick up rocks from trail over 50mm to allow for easier trail maintenance with our mower.

A small picnic area has been developed at Humphery Bridge No 1, spraying of bullheads and bindii have taken place over some years along with fencing and tree planting and enhancement has made this an enjoyable area.

Native Yarran trees have been cleaned around at Dirnbir, one of our many species of native trees along the trail, (very beneficial for native bees). Maybe we have residents in our birdbox at Dirnbir siding?.

Many Thanks!! To our Volunteers and Supporters for your encouragement!!!, please come along and participate!

Regards

Mike
