Burnett River Bridges Report April 2024

Please find some happenings for the Burnett River Bridges Section

Well, the rain hasn’t given us a break this month with a fall of 60mm last Sunday the 21st. Again, Reids Creek and Mount Debateable projects are deferred.

Maintenance Reids Creek to Mundubbera carried out again this month with hopefully a slashing from Boomerang to Slab Creek.

A continual grass maintenance program in place with the ZT mower.

The coming financial budget will be welcome with considerable earthworks to be done from the very wet season just experienced.

Works at Humphery Bridge no 2 approaches needs infill, as does Dirnbir Water Reserve.

A spraying contractor will also need to be engaged for some cuttings and sections, (grass and weed control).

Cleaning up of the Youth Centre has seen the beginning of a layered garden.

Considerable work has taken place shovelling and reusing leaf mulch from around the buildings.

Big thanks to Doug and John Leggett for the use of his tractor and front-end loader.

An RADF project application, called “ART ON the Rail Trail” is being prepared for submission with the “Friends of the Gayndah Gallery”, BBIRT and NBRC lets hope for a successful outcome.

A letter box has been installed at the Trail Hub, with Lot No 25 Cordelia Street Gayndah being the Trail Hub address.

Different trail users’ groups have been on trail with a group of 7 horse riders last weekend.

We will have to encourage users to be mindful of the impact of horse’s hooves in wet weather, the group rode the day following 60mm of rain.

Water Reserves for the use of animals will be encouraged for future use.

The BRBRT section Reids creek to Munduberra is fit for purpose for the weeks either side of the event.

An incredible amount of work has gone into next weekend’s BBIRT, TMR, BQ week end at the Barrimoon-Tunnels-Golimbel sections. Well, done to all involved.

Until next time
Thank you to all our Volunteers.
