Greetings Everyone! very welcome rain spread over the latter half of the month, 96 mm recorded for October, it was muchly needed.
This month has seen volunteers busy with maintenance and Hub Compound projects such as painting safety markings on steps reconfiguring lattice work combined with grounds maintenance has kept us occupied. The roof guttering on 3 large sheds was full to the top with Cadagi gum nuts leaves and branches having not been cleaned for 20 years, big thanks to the volunteers’ involved.

Zero Turn mowing has commenced with equipment test and a mowing Mount Debateable back East to Dirnbir water reserve, all went well.

Coming Tuesday will see the round robin mowing maintenance of the sidings and trail.
Of course, bindii and bullhead spraying has taken place, with a new pest weed Maltese Cockspur is showing its presence.
Rock picking which involves walking the trail and removing any rocks etc. larger than 50mm, I use a light chip hoe with a Swans neck to pick up to avoid bending. This helps immensely with mowing maintenance.

Birding observations: with native blossom in full swing our native birds are very busy, the Scarlet Honey Eater is very prevalent on recordings. The perfume of the Black Tea Tree along the river is in the air !!

Counters are being read and today a meeting with Victorian riders who chose to ride the “Sleeping Giant” loop trail out of Mount Debateable. This engaging 23klm loop is becoming popular and can be viewed on our maps section on the website.

A Duke of Edinborough ride was also noted, with participants from Childers tackling sections of our trail, I am sure they achieved their goals, Congratulations!!
Our new hub office complex is slowly coming into shape, please pop in for an inspection of this great facility!!! Everyone welcome.
It is time again to sincerely Thank Volunteers and Supporters for their input. Volunteers to our cause most welcome. Until next time!
Cheers! Mike
