Greetings everyone! a very mild July with very little rain having fallen,
0 mm of rain recorded. How ever trail maintenance goes on with a total of 197 volunteer hours undertaken for the month.
TMR engaged a spraying contractor for pest inspection and control at our Gayndah Hub and maintenance depot, which are all in sound condition, thanks TMR.
Considerable earth works for flood damage rectification of scouring around the headwall East of Philpott Creek bridge was conducted. A 20-tonne excavator and vibrating plate for compaction was used. Vegetation works, fencing and seeding followed.
Encouragement, support and donations have been forthcoming from the local communities to support our organisation as we slowly progress, this is truly appreciated!!
The removal of frost guards is eagerly anticipated to see how our small feature trees fared over Winter. Last year our small trees at sidings were severely damaged by frost setting us back a full year. The frost protection program has taken considerable effort
For birding enthusiasts our bird of the month is the stately Pelican observed by trail users at Humphery along the stretch of river adjoining the trail.
The short 2 klm trail walk from Dirnber to Reids creek return is proving very popular, this being one of our rehabilitation areas with active bird life in that area.
