Burnett River Bridges Rail Trail Section Report June 2026 (Gayndah to Mundubbera 32klms)

Greetings everyone! Mid-Winter with very little frosts to report, June has been very mild with little rainfall of 7mm rain. Volunteer hours of 220 to report for the month.

Electrical inspection, service and repairs were carried out at the old Track Depot at Gayndah Hub. Thank you to TMR for this action in making the complex more useable friendly again after 20 years. Re-instatement of missing building post will allow for safe roof inspection into the future. Tree pruning along boundary fence is being carried out also.

Old fence removal from across the trail at Reid’s Creek is making the termination area at the creek intersection more maintenance and user friendly.

It is a very enjoyable section from Dirnbir Siding to the Reid’s Creek area, for a short walk or ride of 2.5klm’s return.

Highlight of the month was the placing of the 20-foot shipping container at Mount Debateable Siding for trail maintenance equipment storage.

A Big Thank You! to everyone involved. Enhancement of that area is ongoing.

Because of such mild Winter conditions, the grass has not dried off so mowing and whipper snipping is continuing, bullhead chipping is also early in the season, spray control of weeds such as bindii and bullheads usually take place in August.

The front top wire re-instatement has taken place at Humphery Siding, changing barbed wire for plain wire to prevent wildlife (possum and owl) fatalities in that fenceline timbered area.

Thank you to our trail supporter Mr. John Leggett Snr. for the use of his wire winding machine! Making the project much easier.

A great month with many enjoyable activities and efforts by our volunteers and supporters, Thank You!

So many aspects of the trail make for a natural environmental interaction experience possible for personal wellbeing.

Bird of the month is the Squatter Pidgeon, West of Humphery Siding.

Thank you, till next month. Mike
