Greetings everyone! Welcome back after our rather hot Summer break. With some rain, 55mm in storms. We commenced our round eternal of rail trail grass cutting and maintenance as seen in our Volunteers hour reports, this month a great effort with 204 hours of volunteering.
Maintenance commenced at the Trail Hub and QR track compound with mowing, general tidying, road verges and BLCT and K-Wagon rail carriages areas.
Our Reid’s Creek, Dirnbir, Mount Debateable, Roth’s Bridge, Humphery, Humphery Bridge No1., Sidings and reserves have all received maintenance in the form of mowing, brushcutting and fencing repairs.
A much enjoyable visit to Munduberra to talk with business and organisations with regard to trail projects and maintenance. Mal at Mundubbera Mens Shed, Phil Robinson signs, Janelle, North Burnett Pest Control. Thanks to Barry at Mundubberra information centre for smoko.
Final mango pick occurred on the 10th Januay, a very dry late season this year with approx.. 202 mangoes (Kensington Pride) yielded to share with members, supporters and public.
Spraying of Bindii and Bullheads ongoing. The spraying program by a contactor at our “Faith” Bridge and Mr Debateable pitched Stone Wall and corridor is achieving great results.
Bill is progressing well at his rehabilitation section at Mount Debateable to Ulcoq’s road, with watering and whipper snipping, self regeneration of native trees are achieving encouraging results after being cleaned around with the chip hoe. The Dirnbir Siding, East to to Reid’s Creek Bridge (Wild Life Corridor Rehabilitation) area is really impressive with native vegetation growth, a very enjoyable 1.5 klm walk to Reid’s Creek.
